Usually no, unless the box also comes with a heatsink. The paste will be on the bottom of the heatsink, not on the top of the processor.

New motherboard and CPU why slower boot time?

possibly overheating, make sure thermal paste and fan (if you are air cooling) were applied to the CPU also make sure your motherboard supports all your hardware

What is wrong when I turn on the computer and it makes repeated attempts to boot?

You have problems with either your hard drive or your CPU. It looks like it's CPU problem. Check the CPU radiator, clean it if it has some dust, aslo you will have to remove it in order to check therma paste which is between the CPU and the radiator. If it's dry and not flexible you have to clean the CPU and radiator from the paste and put new one. You can purchase a paste online.

How do you fix overheating compaq cq42 laptop when I've tried everything bought a cooler clean vents and upgrade ram thought that would help how do you fix it?

I would check the thermal compound paste on the CPU.If the paste is hard than most likely thats whats making your laptop over heat.Try removing the hard paste from both the heat sink and CPU and apply a new coat to the CPU using a credit card to apply it to the CPU.Apply the new coat evenly and avoid bubbles or "holes" in the new coat.I would also check for dust on the fan and on the Heat sink it self.Do not turn on your computer anymore as you can fry the CPU or motherboard. You can buy the thermal compound paste at a electronic stores. It looks like a syringe and its small would cost you roughly $10 to $15

Can you upgrade the CPU in your dell inspiron 1150?

The highest CPU the Inspiron 1150 can handle is 2.66 Ghz Pentium IV. Anything higher will overheat. Be sure to clean the heatsink and use some thermal paste on the CPU.

When upgrading a CPU what must be applied between the new CPU and the heat sink fan?

Thermal grease to allow heat to transfer to the heat sink.

When installing a new CPU what is applied directly to the CPU?

Before installing your Heatsink and Fan to the processor you should be applying Thermal Paste. There are several hundred versions on the market and any good computer store will have ooddles of the stuff. Ideally don't spend less that €10 on a tube. If its cheaper than €10 its generally useless. In some case, some of the more expensive thermal pastes contain an adhesive to ensure the heatsink sits better on the processor.

Do GPUs need thermal paste?

Yes, GPUs do need thermal paste for efficient heat dissipation and to prevent overheating. Thermal paste helps to fill in microscopic gaps between the GPU and heatsink, creating a better thermal connection and allowing heat to be transferred more effectively. Without thermal paste, air pockets or gaps can inhibit heat transfer, leading to higher temperatures and potentially damaging the GPU. When installing a new GPU or upgrading the cooling system of an existing GPU, it is crucial to apply thermal paste properly. This ensures that the thermal paste creates an even layer between the GPU and heatsink, providing optimal thermal conductivity. It is important to note that different GPUs may have different requirements for the amount and type of thermal paste needed. Therefore, it is recommended to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. To ensure the best performance from your GPU, you can use high-quality thermal paste such as Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme Thermal Paste. This thermal paste has ultimate heat conductivity and is easy to use. It is also non-electrical conductive, non-corrosive, non-curing, and non-toxic, making it safe to use. The GELID applicator that comes with the thermal paste also enables an easier application, ensuring a smooth and even spread for optimal performance.

What shoul one suspect when the computer makes lot of noise?

Over heating. Open your computer and take it apart and with a duster for electronics simple clean out and get rid of every speck of dust. Next remove the old thermal paste from the CPU and apply a new coat evenly.

What are some common mistakes people make when installing a new CPU?

The biggest problem is always with thermal grease. It's hard to get it exactly right. The manufacturer usually tries to devise a more or less foolproof method to install the cpu and if you follow instructions you can do it.

How can someone replace an Intel Core Duo Processor?

You can replace an Intel Core Duo Processor by first removing the heatsink and/or fan from the processor and removing the old thermal paste. Apply thermal paste to the new Intel Core Duo Processor and reseat the heatsink and/or fan.

How do you reboot after the CPU burn out?

If your CPU is fried then you need to get a new CPU to turn your computer back on.

Exactly what do you need to have when you upgrade to a new CPU?

You will need a new CPU,as well as the booting software
