No.
But a firefighter has to have advanced first-aid training.
No. In some rural areas the fire department answers all the 911 calls making it necessary to be both firefighter and paramedic, but in bigger cities you can just be a paramedic.
Paramedic firefighter known as fire medics are firefighters with an emergency medical technician-paramedic license.
$69,000 a year, I am a firefighter myself and work in Florida. I'm a firefighter paramedic EMT, I earn 102,000 a year and I am 34.
That would be extremely difficult, due to problems communicating with patients and other staff. But anything is possible- I have known a firefighter that had both legs amputated above the knee, and still worked as a firefighter.
Third Watch?
I dont know you should ask someone who cares.
The ranks in a fire department can vary depending on the organization and location, but common ranks include Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, and Chief. These ranks generally indicate a progression in responsibility and leadership within the department.
RNs are not First Reaponders. RNs generally work on hospitals or elderly care facilities. The only time an RN would be considered a FR is if he/she is working in a EMS LifeLite helicopter with a Paramedic. Even then there kind of not FRs. A First Responder is usually a EMT, FireFighter or Police officer. First Responder training ecompasses whatever there role is. An EMT will learn medical training, a FireFighter vehicle extrication and fighting fires, a police officer crowd control, traffic control and so on. Even if RNs are working LifeLite they still need a Paramedic for intubation, crics and so on.

www.floridastatefirecollege.org Theres alot of info on that site. That's where i went to become a Firefighter. The Florida State Fire College is the best fire school in the state( hence the Florida State Fire College name :D ) . Theres many other places to go alot of them only teach you to be a firefighter 1 though. Which is only good enough for a volunteer firefighter. You need to be a Firefighter 2 if you want to be a career firefighter. Go to your local fire station. Im sure theres a few guys who went to local Fire Schools and they had to have been in Florida since Florida does not accept other state fire certifications. You will also need to be an EMT. Being a Paramedic wouldn't hurt you in the least. You'll get picked over anybody for a job if your a paramedic.
James A. Gay became the first black firefighter in 1943. He later became the first black to be promoted to Lieutenant.
