you should probably do a skin test for any and all hair dyes you use, just to be safe. Skin tests ensure that you are not allergic/will not have a bad reaction to any of the ingredients in the dye. If any irritation is caused by the skin test, you probably shouldn't use that dye just in case. You may also want to try a 'strand test', where you try the dye out on a small strand of hairs. This will give an indicator of the intensity of the colour so that you can see whether or not you will be happy with the results. A strand test isn't required though and is only for the aforementioned purpose. Semi-permanent dyes can still cause reactions with your scalp, so i would recommend a skin test.
