After a certain age, it is only fair that the child should be allowed to pick where they want to live. If you are sixteen years old you obviously have an opinion and you want it to be heard. Try just explaining to your parents why you think it would be good for you to live with one person rather than the other. Try not to come off as aggressive; your parents love you and most likely want to help you with your problem. Being aggressive will make them think you are unruly and incapable of making your own decisions. You just have to have a legitimate reason as to why you would like to move.

In most cases, a sixteen year old does not have the legal right to choose which parent to live with. However, a judge may take their preference into account during custody proceedings if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the child. Ultimately, the decision will be made based on factors such as the child's safety and well-being.
