This money is refunded when the empty container is returned to a bottle depot. Money for recycling a can would be the scrap value of the metal in the can. Scrap value for iron is between $0.04 and $0.20 per pound and scrap value for aluminium is $0.70 for a pound or 30 cans. The best you could get for either can would be 2 cents or less.
