I believe edelbrock makes a selection of intake manifolds for the 4.9. I have a carb 4.9 in an 81, I'm thinking of getting one.
The 301 (4.9) Pontiac was pretty much a one off engine. To date, I know of no one that makes any type of performance intakes for it. Most people rip out the 301 and drop in a 350, 400...whatever.....since it will bolt right in. The only options you have is the factory 301 4bbl intake......or going to the T/A turbo unit.
lower intake is 115 in pounds upper is 18 ft pounds
The 1997 Pontiac Trans Am 5.7 liter engine oil pressure switch can be found on top of the engine. The oil pressure switch will be near the intake manifold.
There is 2 of them and thay are under the intake manifold. You will have to remove intake manifold to get to them.
It is located under the Intake Manifold. You must remove the intake manifold to get to it.
You will have to remove the intake manifold and install a new intake gasket. You have no choice.
on the front of the engine, behind the power steering pump, under the lower intake manifold. good luck.
There is two of them. They are located under the intake manifold. There is two of them. They are located under the intake manifold.
i have been told that it is located on the drivebelt end of the intake manifold on 3.0 and 3.8 liter motors. and on 3800 motors its on the the opposite end of the intake( drivers side rear of motor, mounted on rear of intake manifold.) im changeing mine tomm so I'll write back with info on how it goes
On the intake manifold on the driver side.
directly under the intake manifold
On the 1992 2.3 it is behind the upper intake manifold, about even with the lower intake manifold (driver's side). This puts it between the manifold and the firewall.
The map sensor is located on the intake manifold on a 1996 Olds Achieva 2.4 liter. It is in the center of the intake manifold.
