If it is the same as the 2.4, remove the top cover and brackets from the engine, remove the cover from the center of the valve cover, there will be 2 coils inside, start with the plug on the left. Pull the plug wire off and r&r the plug, replace the wire and remove the coil from the second one, repeat this procedure for the last 2.
The left plug wire is connected to the right coil and vise versa.
I just did the change on my daughters 2004 santa fe so I hope it is the same.

You may have the wires hooked up incorrectly. Click the link to see detailed photo of the correct connections.

Changing the plugs and plug wires correctly has nothing to do with nor can it cause an oil leak.
Obviously- the spark plugs were not the issue :)

No. There is nothing involved in changing plugs that requires or draws electrical current.
I believe the dealership gets 190.00 time and plugs
Changing your spark plugs could theoretically make your car faster but not enough to make a noticeable difference. Changing your spark plugs when they are worn will increase your fuel mileage slightly.
The engine must be tilted forward. Why are you changing spark plugs on a 2003 engine. These plugs do not need replacement until 100,000 miles. For more detailed directions, follow the instructions for changing the plugs in any 3800 engine in the grand prix '97 and up listed in the grand prix forum. Hope this helps. "G" You need to remove alternator, and undo forward engine support to get engine to go forward. It is a tight fit but it can be done. I even did it with just alternator removed. Have fun
