Yes, it will be dark brown or almost black.
It should look reddish in color for an automatic with no burnt smell.
There is no adjustment for that type of transmission. How many miles is on the trans, and does the fluid look dark and smells like burnt rags it's toast.
Many issues could cause noises in a transmission. Start by checking the transmission fluid. Look for low fluid, discoloration or a burnt smell. Run a check of computer codes to show a possible transmission problem.
Having too much fluid will cause your transmission fluid to look foamy
It is red, and looks like most other types of trans fluid
Assuming this is a used automatic transmission you are looking for, if the used transmission is already removed from a vehicle, look at the color of the fluid when you pull the dipstick. It should be a nice wine red with no burnt odor. If the transmission oil pan looks like it has been removed recently, stay away from that one, someone may have changed the fluid and filter hoping that would cure a problem they were having with it.
purple or green and shiny Usually red.
transmission fluid and engine oil have separate dip sticks. The transmission fluid dip stick head as a rule is red. look for your transmission and then look for the tube
it looks like burnt dust
If all that was done is a fluid change--talke it back to the serviceman who did it! If an automatic has low fluid or filter in wrong, it won't go, and/or cause damage by not getting fluid where it needs to go. If You changed fluid; check level. Add fluid as needed. If you didn't change filter, then it is not the problem, as it worked on old filter. (Best to change it with fluid, though.) Also, look for any gross leaks from transmission. These must be addressed, too. The condition of the fluid would be important before you changed it. The fluid might have been bad, "Burnt". which would mean your trans fluid is bad and now the clutches have gone bad also. It is always better to change fluid often before burnt smell. If the fluid has a burnt smell to it, then been changed out. The new fluid will further damage the transmission, ie: clutches completely smooth, no forward or reverse, etc.
what is a t-30 torx look like.
You are in need of a serious transmission service. Your fluid should look bright red new, and dark red when it needs to be replaced, but black indicates it is overdue for a transmission service.
