purple or green and shiny
Usually red.
red fluid is transmission fluid and could be leaking from several locations around the transmission. Check the cooler lines where they go into the radiator, the seals where the axles go into the transmission, but most likely is a leaking pan gasket, etc. The only good way to find it is to look under the van and see where the wet spot is located
Your transmission fluid is probably leaking into your coolant
There isn't any way to add or check transmission fluid. The transmission is sealed. Look in your owners book to locate transmission, if there is no leaking then it is fine. You can always call a VW dealership if you are not satisfied with this answer.
there is a transmission cooler inside your radiator and it must be leaking. probably replace the whole assembly
Jack up the car and put stands under it then look and see where it is leaking.
You engine contains coolant, oil, transmission fluid, P/S fluid, brake fluid, gasoline, & windshield washer fluid. Smell of the fluid, and if it has no smell it is not gasoline. If it is not slick to the touch it is not oil, transmission fluid, or P/S fluid. So that leaves brake fluid, or windshield washer fluid. Brake fluid does have a slight smell, and may be slightly slick, if you pay close attention. Look at the area it is coming from and this is a clue to what is leaking. Try laying a piece of white paper under the vehicle and see what it looks like on paper. The transmission fluid could be leaking into the engine coolant through the transmission cooler in the radiator. You should be able to see the transmission fluid in the engine coolant recovery tank. It will look like a oily film on top of the coolant. White smoke (steam) out of the exhaust indicates engine coolant is leaking into a cylinder. This can be a result of a blown cylinder head gasket or a cracked cylinder head. Have the engine coolant system pressure tested to detect the leak.
look you are going to drain the transmission pan clean up the seal and change the transmission filter and apply fresh transmissionfluid.
the good rite amount should be when ur filling up the transmission, there should be a second bolt that u need to unscrew near the top of the transmission, once u fill in the fluid look to see when the fluid start leaking out then that's how u knoe it should be good enough
Having too much fluid will cause your transmission fluid to look foamy
It is red, and looks like most other types of trans fluid
transmission fluid and engine oil have separate dip sticks. The transmission fluid dip stick head as a rule is red. look for your transmission and then look for the tube
