Depending on the type of juice: Orange and lemon juice are acidic and will change the pH of the soil fairly quickly resulting in poor growth and possibly death. Other types of juice may not have the same direct effects initially. Basically most fruit juices will first have no affect on the the growth (making the plants grow neither faster or slower), after some time though the sugar content in the juice can cause bacterial colonies in the soil which could affect growth negatively. For the most part juice is largely comprised of water, so there is a short benefit, but this is outweighed by the long-term negative affects.
A person can water plants with vegetable juice, but it isn't a great idea because it attracts gnats and fruit flies. A better ideas is to compost the vegetable scraps and then use the finished product on the plants.
