I don't think people see China as "naked", in the sense of being defenseless and unprotected. I don't think they see themselves that way either.
China has worked very hard to regain their ascendency in the world, and frankly, have apparently succeeded. They have yet to make an issue of it, but make no mistake, they are not only "a" world power, but bordering upon being "the" world power.
Only the United States and India currently have any ability to compete with them. Or, if you count associations, the European Union might be able. Or a hypothetical alliance of Islamic states, much talked of, but not seen for centuries.
