Yes, depends on what you want and what quality of system you want. If you are irrigating a small garden or planters then yes it is. But if your doing a plantation of say citrus or fruit trees or melons, it can e very expensive. The size and type of your pump, tubing length and size, connectors and drip heads. This all adds to your cost of irrigation. The good news is that you have no wasted water. It all goes directly to the roots and you have very happy plants/trees. Its also a good way to fertilize those plants/trees. More good news....once its installed there is little or no maintenance required. I have about 1500 trees covering 8 acres so you can see the advantage of not using Rainbird type systems. I plan on adding more trees and the additional area is very easy to bring water to, via the drip system. Basically plug and play.
