People with Diabetes must consider extra planning if they want to eat candy. They need to be cognizant about counting carbohydrates and dosing insulin correctly if they happen to use that hormone to help manage their condition.

It’s important to remember, too, that people with diabetes are typically watching the total carbohydrate count of food and drink, and not necessarily honing in on the sugar content.

While candy can make blood sugars rise more quickly, it’s that carb count that needs to be watched when consuming a piece of candy. The same applies to sugar-free candy, which also contains a certain amount of carbohydrates and that needs to be considered when factoring that food choice into your diabetes management.

Certain candies, such as those containing peanut butter or nuts, can take longer to impact blood sugars and won’t lead to as dramatic spikes immediately after eating them. However, other regular candies with sugar can cause quick spikes in blood sugar, and some medical professionals suggest eating a piece of candy closer to mealtime in order to “soften the blow” of a sudden spike in blood sugar.

i have some delicious diabetic recipes that i think a lot of you will really enjoy i have the link in my bio check it out if you get a chance.

Of course, you’ll still need to account for the calories and carbs contained within the candy

Most people eat some sweet or sugar everyday; it's the excessive consumption of refined sweets that can cause type II diabetes by putting an excessive strain on your pancreas.

Type I diabetes is genetic and probably not caused by diet.

No. You don't get diabetes because you eat too much sweet. It is a very very popular myth.

Actually, no food ever cause diabetes. Diabetes happens when you have the genes to get diabetes, over weight or obese, age and lifestyle etc.

When you have diabetes, your body do not produce insulin (as in Type 1 diabetes), either produce very low or your body become resistant to insulin's action (type 2 diabetes).

Glucose level in your blood increases after you have had your meal, particularly carbohydrate, sugary and dairy type food. When the glucose rises in the blood, your pancreas produces a hormone called insulin. Insulin helps to transport the excess sugar in the blood to the cells in your body. Your body use the glucose as fuel and burn for energy. You need energy for every activities.

So, if you have diabetes, eating too much sweet increases your blood sugar level and the glucose remains in the blood leading to various diabetic complications like Heart disease, kidney failure, stroke, eye damage etc.

No, no, no. That is one of the greatest myths regarding diabetes.

Nobody really knows what causes diabetes, even though there are certain factors that do contribute to it, such as genes, being overweight, poor diet, and over the age of 40.
