It helps the nerve pain from it and lysine helps breakouts. I take the gabapentin if i have a breakout that causes nerve pain and it takes the nerve pain away quickly, very quickly, tho i will still have a blister or two of which i use lysine for. If you want something that will work on the blisters use Bactine if you can find the liquid form, apply it to tp and dab on the blisters. I also will wear a pad and squirt it on the pad too, it is the most relieving i have found and I've had herpes for almost 20 years.
