Types of positive displacement pump?

gear pump, crescent gear pump, axial-piston pump, radial-piston pump, linear-piston pump, & vane pump Also, fuel injection pumps such as linear piston pumps and rotary piston pumps.

Where is the oil pump on a 1998 Malibu?

The oil pump is located inside the oil pan, underneath the engine. The pump is driven by a gear unit that spins with the camshaft (located higher up in the engine). As the camshaft spins, it has a gear that interacts with the gear unit for the pump which spins a shaft down to the pump to pump oil. Taking off the oil pan will expose the oil pump.

What is gear oil pump?

A gear pump uses the meshing of gears to pump fluid by displacement.[1] They are one of the most common types of pumps for hydraulic fluid power applications. Gear pumps are also widely used in chemical installations to pump fluid with a certain viscosity. There are two main variations; external gear pumps which use two external spur gears, and internal gear pumps which use an external and an internal spur gear. Gear pumps are positive displacement (or fixed displacement), meaning they pump a constant amount of fluid for each revolution. Some gear pumps are designed to function as either amotor or a pump.

Water pump and belt replaced on a 2003 Chevy duramax now timing chain noise?

Because the water pump on the duramax is gear driven, when you install a new water pump that meshes with an exisiting drive gear you get a noise coming from that area. The new gear on the water pump will have to wear into the existing drive gear. It would be the same if you installed a new ring gear in a differential but left the old pinion gear, you would have a similar noise. It took my dealer changing a brand new pump because it made noise to figure out that the pump was fine it just needed to break in. Hope this helps.

Where do you put gear oil on a BMW 1986?

I assume you mean the differential oil. There is a square plug on the back of the differential. Unscrew it with a wrench and fill until the fluid level is even with the bottom of the hole. It generally helps to use a hand pump made for the purpose. They are inexpensive fit right on the gear oil container. Most any auto supply shop will have the oil and pump.

How do you use a hand pump siphon?

One tube from the hand pump should be placed inside of the liquid that is to be siphoned. The other tube should be placed in an empty bucket or other container. The pump should then be squeezed and released to move the liquid from the container that it is currently in into the other empty container.
