Most religious faiths do not believe that the number of people going to heaven is limited. The Jehovah's Witnesses are the only ones I know of who believe that an elite few are heaven-bound: Their idea is that 144,000 will go to heaven, but others who don't get into heaven will live in an earthly paradise instead.
Many faiths say that "god is love". Would a loving deity want to limit the number of souls who get to abide in heaven?
