Can ladybugs eat seeds?

Yes, ladybugs can eat seeds as long as the food sources in question are small and soft enough. The carnivorous species of the insects in question (Coccinellidae family) drink nectar and feed upon alternate prey when their usual aphids, mealybugs, scale and thrips are scarce or unavailable. The herbivorous ladybug species prioritize fungi, honeydew, nutrient-rich xylem, pollen and sugar-rich phloem even though the smaller and softer seeds will be welcome.
