Ignition takes about 30 seconds worth of idling fuel
could be several things ,bad fuel pump, bad fuel pressure regulator ,fuel filter needs replaced. or air idle valve needs cleaned or replaced. I would start with new fuel f9ilter and then have the air idle valve checked or take it off and clean it yourself. Not hard to do if you are mech inclined and have a few metric tools.
ask your local mechanic on how to stop it
Had this problem with my '87. I believe it was a bad fuel injector.
take it to a garage there may be something wrong with the fuel delivery system.
i bought a brand new high performance carburetor, the fuel pressure is at six pounds but the car wont idle. it willl talke the gas fine bught dies if you let off the throttle?
Could be a very dirty fuel filter.
Posssibly the idle is too high. TAke the idle solonoid off of the throtle body and clean it.
the fuel injection units crap out and start to leak. there is a rough idle, it will run smooth up to a point and after stopping, it will take a minute to fill the thing to start. the part is rather expensive (375.00 from lmc truck) but it is only held together with ten bolts and a gasket...
How low is low. If you have the Multiport Fuel injected engine it is normal for it to idle just at 500rpm give or take 50 prm. Anythign lower and you have a problem.
Change the fuel pump.
Clean your fuel lines, by putting treatment in it and good gas, if it's fuel injected take out your injecters and clean them with gas. Check out your inline fuel filter to see if its obstructed(blow through it). You may have to adjust your idle, this would explain the rough start and dying. Good luck with your project!
To be 'idle' is to be still or motionless. So when 'idle no more' is said, it means to start moving and take a stand. When you are no longer idle you are standing up for waht's right and no longer letting yourself be walked upon.
