Yes. The stomach begins digestion and later dumps its contents into the small intestine, which continues to break down the food. Eventually, the food passes into the large intestine, whose main purpose is to absorb water. After that, the material passes into the rectum, and then OUT. :)

Digestion of the ingested food starts in the mouth and continues in the stomach and small intestine. By the time the food reaches the large intestine it has been processed and all useful nutrients are absorbed and therefore only the waste products remains in the large bowel which only helps in absorbing water so as to give some firmness and consistency to the stools.
