I believe that living in a new country does affect an individual in many ways. When you decide to move to a new country you are faced with all sorts of different things such as new people, customs, culture, language, and even the way they dress. Something I would strongly suggest would be learning a little of the language if possible, so that once you are there you will find it less complicated in getting from one place to another and if you need help you are then able to communicate with people around you more easily therefore hopefully make your new experience more likable.
