The acids in your stomach or caustic or rather, an irritant to the cells in the esophageal lining. Exposure to smoke is just as severe an irritant to those cells, not to mention the introduction of nicotine-like tars that come from smoking marijuana. So Yes, smoking marijuana does effect Barrett's Esophagus in a very negative way.
Barrett's esophagus, which is a condition caused by GERD, is not a condition that qualifies for Social Security disability by itself. If it leads to esophageal cancer, then a person can get disability.
