You bet it does, Olive oil is, of course, an oil. Now to what extent I don't think that it would catch fire until it was well above frying temperature (about 350 degrees Fahrenheit). It will start to smoke if you continue heating it but not using it. The food you cook draws the temperature in and cools the oil slightly. Be aware if oil that you are cooking with is smoking lest it catch fire.
Virgin and extra virgin olive oil is slightly acidic compared to water. It might sting a little if splashed in the eyes, but probably wouldn't cause serious injury. Still not something anyone should try.
If you get it hot enough, pretty much any oil will burn
Peanut Oil has a high flash point.

vegetable oil has a higher smoke point than olive oil but olive oil has better flavor. If you're frying for a significant amount of time use vege oil, if frying for a short amt of time you can use olive. If you're in the middle you can blend olive and vege to heighten your smoke point so the olive won't burn and still get the flavor
Olive oil will burn at low;er temperature than vegetable oil, and it will alter the flavor, but it would work in a pinch. YA GURL AK WAS HERE :) ALSO.. OLIVE OIL IS GROSS.
Only if you have drop the food at a height then it will splash and will burn you if you get splashed.
