Yes, adding olive oil to dry cat's food can help remedy constipation but, if it lasts for more than 3 days, you need to seek your vet's advice. Adding 1 tablespoon daily can help to prevent furballs, improve overall health & give a healthy & shiny coat.
There are other oils that can be used instead of olive oil. Salmon oil and Evening Primrose oil are two oils that a cat can benefit greatly from in the way of skin, fur and joint health. You can also add a weekly treat of oily fish such as sardines or mackerel (best in spring water), or even scraps of plain fatty meat (such as skin from a chicken) either raw or cooked, depending on what your cat prefers.
Both these oils can be found in most health shops and can be added to the cat's meal a couple of times a week. Only a few drops are needed each time.
You can use it, but it would be better to feed oily fish or a little pulped pumpkin. Add a little to its food at every feeding until symptoms stop. If the cat is still constipated after 48 hours, you may want to take the animal to a vet. If left too long constipation could cause much more serious problems.
Kittens will only need a very tiny amount - a few drops mixed with a little food may be sufficient. Alternatively, feeding some oily fish such as mackerel or sardines will have the same effect, and the strong fish smell may coax the kitten to eat.
Be sure to take the kitten to the vets if the constipation hasn't cleared up within two days. If left untreated, constipation can be incredibly dangerous, especially for a kitten.
Yes. Olive oil acts as a laxative and lubricates the dog's digestive system. Alternatively, feeding a little oily fish will have the same effect, with the bonus of all the fatty acids such as Omega 3 and 6 which promote healthy skin, fur and joints.
Be sure to visit a vet if the constipation does not clear up within two or three days.
Yes
Hi, there are probably many things you could try, but when I foster kittens, I usually give them a small amount of oily tuna (the kind from the tin) and this seems to help.
It could be from constipation. If that's the case, cat needs to drink more fluids (try adding a little water to canned food) Some cats will eat a couple tablespoons of canned pumpkin. If all you feed is dry food, try to get the cat to eat some canned food. Constipation can get serious, so discuss it with your vet. According to my vet occassional minor bulging is not serious but if you think it appears worse, a vet visit is needed
Hi there, When my cat had constipation I was advised by my vet to give him weetabix with milk and to put enough milk in the weetabix to make the cereal soggy. Due to the high fibre this will help his bowels move. However if the constipation has been going on for over 48hours then see your vet. My vet recommended canned pumpkin for a cat with bad constipation. We mixed it in his food and even shot it into his mouth with a syringe. He didn't like it much but it helped.
It seems so, at least my cat has constipation now and we just started giving him Baytril.
SOMEONE HELP ME ON THIS QUESTION PLS
Try a half of a child's dose of constipation over the counter medicine. The cat may have swallowed a non food object. Your cat will die of dehydration before starving. See if your cat will drink. get to a vet soon if changes don't happen.
Give it food, water, shelter, and love. If it is sick, get it to a veterinarian.

Mine would go outside and eat grass and then puke, later it would poo. Be careful watch your cat so it does not stray and get lost.
Constipation is not a side effect of Clavamox. Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite are possible though.
Yes, cats do like cat food.
Olive oil will give your cat diarrhea if they eat too much. However, regular small doses (1 tsp or less) mixed with their food will promote digestive health and reduce hairballs by lubricating their digestive system. It also has the added benefit of giving them healthy skin and shiny fur.
