Yes and No.
The term "Palestine" is a derivative of the Roman name for the province Syria-Palaestina. The Romans named the former province of Judea as Syria-Palaestina as punishment to the Jewish population which kept revolting against the Roman Occupation. The name was specifically chosen since Palaestina was a reference to the Jews' archenemies, the Philistines. However, the Arab Palestinians did not choose to call themselves Palestinians; it was simply the name given to them during the British Mandatory Period. However, the conflict with the New Yishuv and Israel (the Zionists) gave Palestinian Arabs a distinct ethnic sense which made the name stick.
They wore nothing as there was not a Philistine
I am philistine.
The term "philistine" refers to someone who is hostile or indifferent to culture and the arts. Example: Despite living in a city known for its museums and theaters, he proudly declared himself a philistine with no interest in the cultural scene.
prime minister of philistine
I find it disappointing that some consider classic literature to be outdated and irrelevant, dismissing it as philistine.
The term "War on Palestine" is nebulous. Does it refer to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict as a whole? Does it refer to Operation Cast Lead? Does it refer to Operation Pillar of Smoke? Does it refer to the Separation Fence? Does it refer to the military occupation of the West Bank? Does it refer to Arab countries holing Palestinians up in refugee camps for three generations? Does it refer to Lebanese military incursions into Palestinian Refugee Camps in Lebanon? Does it refer to how Palestinian passports and visas are not seen as legitimate pieces of paper? Unless the term "War on Palestine" can be defined, we cannot begin a discussion. Additionally, the word "legitimate" is almost as nebulous as it can refer to moral right, legal right, classification procedures, and numerous other things.
Today no one is. That tribe no longer exists However philistine has come to mean different things. Mainly uneducated. So anyone that needs to ask what 'philistine' means is a philistine
