No, it does not.
It was decided by a supervisor that it was asking something different than the question it was merged in.
When a Supervisor merges questions, it generally goes this way: The less-grammatically correct question is merged into the more grammatically correct question. Or, the question that hasn't been on site very long, is merged into the question that has been here much longer. The second question (the one that is being merged) becomes an alternative wording to the first question (primary question - the one that it is merged into). Popularity, answers, alternative wordings, links, related questions, discussion pages, etc are merged together under the primary question. The truth is simply that the supervisor chooses which question to merge. They can then look to pick a different alternate as prime if they desire or even re word the prime question.
Members of The Initiates Program do not have access to the merge tool. TIP members can request merges in the same way as other contributors by changing the wording of a question to match the wording of the question they wish it to be merged to. You can also ask a supervisor to merge questions for you (or your TIP Supervisor if you are a member). Merging is a supervisor-only tool.
When merging a question with alternates into another question, the alternates of the merged question are merged into the alternates of the primary question.
If you find a question that is labeled as temporary, it could be that a supervisor has merged a bunch of alternates that need work into a question that they may delete later. Usually an advanced super does this since they have the ability to truly delete questions - most supers don't.
When you encounter questions that are unanswerable, do not make sense, etc. the best thing you should do is contact a Supervisor and provide them with a link of that question, after that they will decide whether or not the question should be trashed, merged into a catch-all, etc.
As a regular member, you can request that the two questions be merged and the supervisor community that handle the merge requests deal with all of them. Regular members cannot merge questions, I'm afraid. However, as a supervisor - we can merge questions to make them one-standing question.
Questions that may be asked again are placed into the Catch-All Category and merged into a Catch-All Question, or placed in a Supervisor-only Category for deletion at a later point.
If it appears that a whole group of questions on one subject have been asked in a short period of time, it is usually because a Supervisor has split the alternatives that were placed under one question. When you ask a question on WikiAnswers, WikiAnswers will ask you if your question is the same as one that already exists. That is how many questions that are similar but not the same get merged. Supervisors have to separate ones that were inappropriately merged.
How a Non-Supervisor Can Make a Merge RequestDecide which of the 2 questions is better worded. Edit the wording of the lower-quality question to read exactly the same as the better-worded question. You will then see a pop-up box telling you this:"The question [wording of the better-worded question] already exists. Recommend that this be merged."If you agree that you would like the 2 questions to be merged, click on "Save." Your merge request will be sent to a Community Assistant, who will make the merge if the request is indeed accurate.Alternate Way of Requesting a MergeCopy the URL of each of the 2 questions and paste them into an email. Send the email to: WikiAnswers @ Answers.com (be sure to remove the spaces).
A supervisor looks at the 'edit alternates' option on the blue bar while viewing the question. There should show blank boxes on each alternate. Check as many as you want and select 'split'. Be sure to batch split alternates that need to be split, and select the 'split & merge' option for alternates that need to be split from the original question but need to be merged together. (note: all alternates checked while 'split & merging' will be merged together into a question, you can't pick and choose, so be sure that all the alternates selected go together)
This is the exact job for the Merge tool! If you find a question that is repeated multiple times but means the same thing, please report them to a Supervisor to have them merged.
