I made a ticket from Varanasi to Guwahati by AC II Tier. It was an wait list ticket. I informed the matter to the railway who informed me that if your position is confirmed i.e you get a confirmed birth then railway would issue a fresh duplicate ticket at a minimal cost. Again after some day but before the date of journey I as I met an accident I could not proceed as desired from Varanasi to Guwahati. My question is how can I get the refund of my ticket.
It depends on the number of passengers canceling their confirmed or RAC or ( waiting list tickets with higher priority than yours)... if there is a rush ( like festivals, holidays )railway may choose to add additional compartments enhancing your chances to get a berth...once chart is prepared many quotas ( if not used) are released further enhancing your chances...Before you get a confirmed berth there in an RAC list through which your ticket should get through
