The key ingredient in "chew" or smokeless tobacco is nocotine, just like in cigarettes. The quit-smoking patches and gums all contain nicotine so essentially you can get the same "buzz" from that. I don't know if there are pills though.

To give a real answer here: no, nicotine does not come in a pill form, such as a tablet or capsule (I am not counting dermal patches or lozenges). However, it really should, but because of the negative reputation of tobacco products like cigarettes, all research into nicotine for use in, say, controlling involuntary motor tics, Huntington's disease, Tourette syndrome, obsessive compulsive disorder, and attention deficit disorder has virtually been shelved permanently. A pity, because scientific tests by pathologists have shown nicotine to be extremely effective when used in conjunction with psychotropics and neuroleptics for treating the conditions above. Like ethyl alcohol (which gets a bad rap for being the intoxicating ingredient in liquor), nicotine has been given virtual blacklist status in medical research, undeservingly so!

Yes, there is a pill form of tobacco. It is called dissolvable tobacco and is currently made by R. J. Reynolds in the form of Camel Dissolvables, Orbs, Strips and Sticks. It is also made by Phillip Morris sold as Marlboro Snus. You don't swallow the pill, but rather let it dissolve in your mouth and swallow the dissolved tobacco in your saliva. The Orbs look like candy and have a minty taste like Tic Tacs. This has generated a great deal of controversy as they appeal to teens and can be easily concealed. The health risks of the dissolvable tobacco are currently being tested as they are new products. Given that you swallow the product in your saliva, oral and digestive tract cancers similar to chewing tobacco are a likely health concern. Some Swedish studies on Snus have shown an increase in pancreatic cancer.
