Splitting questions counts as a contribution the same as asking or answering a question.

Splitting an alternate wording from a parent question is counted in the "Organization" type of contributions.

How do you make contributions to history in WikiAnswers?
Any edit you make to a question on WikiAnswers goes into the history. You can make a contribution by answering a question, editing an answer, or flagging or unflagging an answer. You can also get in the history by discussing a question or changing its categories. If your asking about the historical count on the contributions list, then the answer is you can no longer add any contributions to this count, any contributions that may already be included will be from the old system of counting contributions.
If you ask a question that has already been asked does it count towards your score as the WikiAnswers 'Contributor of the month'?
No. If you ask a question that already exists on the site, it does not count as a contribution.

If you answer a question and then get an account, it will not count that answer as a contribution on your account. You must be signed into your account to get contributions - contributions are not given by IP address.
Why does hitting the ''Report Abuse'' button and sending a report not count as a contribution?
It does not count as a contribution because you are not changing the WikiAnswers database by hitting the button. If you were to remove this harmful answer or to change this question to be appropriate, then it would count as a contribution.

Indeed it does. Although we supervisors are unpaid volunteers on site, all our actions are for the community of WikiAnswers. Be it blocking a vandal or editing a question or answer, these are classed as community service.

well, no. wikianswers wont let you publish your question without a ? at the end. Also, when texting, you may do something like this... What?! or What!? but not with proper grammer.

If you are not a supervisor on WikiAnswers why doesn't a merge recommendation count as a contribution?
That is because there is no change being made to a question or answer directly by your action, you are merely recommending that someone else do it.

Making contributions of all kinds will improve your contributor status. Answering (and asking) questions, recategorizing, and splitting off alternates all count towards increasing your contributor level.
