Does subliminal suggestion work

As you probably know, we most often see what we expect to see. A subliminal message is a message that we see but do not notice, maybe because it is unexpected and out-of-context or maybe because it's just awfully subtle.

The most common application was the insertion of an image, maybe buttered popcorn or soda, in a film that appeared and disappeared too quickly to interrupt your concentration on the show. All of a sudden you were thinking 'snack bar trip' but didn't know why.

Another use is 'product placement'. More and more we see name brand items appearing in popular media. Generally no mention is made of it, but when you see your TV hero drinking the same brand of bottled water over and over, odds are that the water company is paying to have it appear on screen.

The idea is that we want to emulate people we like so letting us know what our hero drinks may influence our choices without the 'Baseball bat to the head' approach of television commercials.

The obvious empire smokes fiction.

that seem kinda harmless right? its not.

it is a pro Nazi slogan. on TV it would flash on the screen for less than a second. here's what it means:

The obvious empire smokes fiction.

that means the obvious/best/ruling empire (Nazi in this case)

The obvious empire smokes fiction.

Hitler burned the books-fiction

I would say that it could work to a very small degree and nowhere near the levels that some of their proclaimers think.

To give an example of why I believe this does not work is because the muscle stimulating devices, thought they put muscles through a workout, do not accomplish the same results as if someone consciously made their own muscles move during conscious exercise.

So, it seems to me, that if someone played subliminal tapes, they may get some benefits from then, but the most important factor is to make psychological conscious decisions that are personal to you, and then during the practice you really give them the opportunity to take full affect.

To me, it all revolves around the power of intention. A subliminal message is someone else's intention, so it cannot be as powerful to me as one I have made for yourself.

I suggest you make your own subliminal tapes, and then listen to them over and over until your own personal positive message becomes a part of you.
