Best Answer

yes , sulphur have ores. such ores are called sulphide ores. these sulphide ores are purified by the process called roasting. this is the process which involves heating with oxygen and then reducing into original metals. eg: copper sulphide, zinc sulphide, etc.

sulfur

How do sulfur oxides get into the atmosphere?

Sulfur oxides are created by: * the combustion of sulfur containing fuels * the oxidation of sulfides * decomposition * volcanoes * the processing of sulfdic ores They are released to the atmosphere by point sources from these origins (stacks, vents etc) or as fugitive emissions from small leaks and losses

Facts about sulfur dioxide?

Sulfur dioxide is a colorless gas or liquid with a strong, choking odor. It is produced from the burning of fossil fuels and the smelting of mineral ores that contain sulfur. Sulfur dioxide dissolves easily in water to form sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid is a major component of acid rain. Acid rain can damage forests and crops, change the acidity of soils, and make lakes and streams acidic and unsuitable for fish.

How does sulfur dioxide affect air pollution?

Sulfur dioxide is a gas. It is invisible and has a nasty, sharp smell. It reacts easily with other substances to form harmful compounds, such as sulfuric acid, sulfurous acid and sulfate particles.About 99% of the sulfur dioxide in air comes from human sources. The main source of sulfur dioxide in the air is industrial activity that processes materials that contain sulfur, eg the generation of electricity from coal, oil or gas that contains sulfur. Some mineral ores also contain sulfur, and sulfur dioxide is released when they are processed. In addition, industrial activities that burn fossil fuels containing sulfur can be important sources of sulfur dioxide.Sulfur dioxide is also present in motor vehicle emissions, as the result of fuel combustion. In the past, motor vehicle exhaust was an important, but not the main, source of sulfur dioxide in air. However, this is no longer the case.

What do you call an expert in ores?

Someone who specializes in the study of ores would be a mineralogist.

How are sulfide ores turned into oxides?

Sulfide ores are usully converted to oxides by heating them in air, this process is called roasting. During this process, metal sulfide is turned into metal oxide and sulfur dioxide is given out as a by-product.

How is Zinc obtained from their ores?

Zinc ores are roasted in a smelter, which burns off the other elements (mostly sulfur). Smelters produce lots of sulfate and heavy metal air pollution, unless equipped with stack gas scrubbers.

What elements are found with sulfur?

Sulphur usually exists as pyrite ores these are combinations of sulphur with iron or copper or both as FeS2 iron pyrite, CuFeS2 copper pyrite.

What physical and chemical are used to separate metal from their ores?

Some impurities ,or unwanted substances ,are less dense than water ,so they float in water and can be washed away.Others ,like sulfur ,can be burned away.
