The espresso coffee bean is from roasted from the arabicaspecies that contains 60% fat soluble lipids responsible for the essential coffee aromatic oil. The aroma of the espresso bean on shelf preservation undergoes a slow chemical change like all coffees. Oxidation occurs and the bean/grounds will stale.

Yes. The active volatile oils in coffee with go rancid. This happens in beans, ground coffee and in fresh brewed coffee in the pot. Once coffee has been brewed it starts to loose flavour and freshness within 20 minutes. Ground coffee has about a week once opened before changes in flavour start. Fresh whole bean coffee will go "stale" within 30 to 40 days depending on how you store it.

Usually tea will have an expiration date right on the box. It does not go bad but the taste can alter after a certain amount of time.
