"Your marital status has been updated... I'll tell you later."
I off hand would say that personal philosophy affects how people see marital status. Even though 75% of the country is not married they support the 25% who are by paying taxes to support school systems and other things that families need or use. Some religions have as a philosophy that same sex marriage is wrong, but if it is viewed beyond the religion it is a civil rights issue. People have the right to marry who they wish. Over 40 years ago the issue of marriage between ethnic groups was a civil rights issue. Watch the movie LOVING to understand this issue. It is a true story.
Civil Status = Marital StatusIt could also be some of below, depending on the context.Civil means like, when you dont get on with someone, but only talk when you have to. or when you do talk you dont argue. or if your with someone whos both of your friends or family, you dont ruin it for them. BY LAUREN whos really radically tottally superficially cooool (H) :) The Births, Marriages and Deaths Registrar records the civil status of someone and is sometimes called the Civil Status Registrar
"Cual es su estado civil?" basically means "What is your marital status?", so you can answer with: Married - Casado/a Single - Soltero/a Divorced - Divorciado/a Widower/Widow - Viudo/a
