No; the word "awesome" doesn't appear in the King James version.

In the New King James, it appears 37 times in the Old Testament, and once in the New. As examples, a few of the references are listed below, along with the word used in the KJV where "awesome" appears in the NKJV:

Genesis 28:17 - "dreadful"

Exodus 34:10 - "terrible" (most common by far)

Deuteronomy 28:58 - "fearful"

Job 10:16 - "marvellous" (sic)

Psalm 111:9 - "reverend"

Lamentations 1:9 - "wonderfully"

Acts 2:20 - "notable"
