Not normally. The restore disk is specific for the hardware in the computer system it came with.

Anything on your computer will not be saved. If your laptop is modern, it may shut down the system to prevent damage. You will most certainly recieve BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) because your OS (Operating System) is stored on your HDD (Hard Disk Drive).
Eggerland - Family Computer Disk System - happened in 1987.
You can try taking out the memory disk of your laptop. You can try rebooting your computer or try restarting your computer from scratch. You can try the Geek Squad computer store.
A Disk Boot Fail means that the disk you normally start your computer from is not working. The computer can be started from the System Disk but that system disk will wear out so you will have no boot disk and no way of repairing the boot disk. Time to look for a new boot disk or better a brand new computer
Try reloading your system drivers (original Operating System disk).
There are several ways of reinstalling the Operating System on an Acer 3680 laptop including through the network, via USB storage and using the system disk. The simplest and most convenient way is to use the system disk.
Get a boot disk/usb for either the system you wish to install on it, and there should be an option to do this, alternatively you can use a linux system to do this. In order for any of these to work you must first have the boot order in your BIOS set to prioritise usb and or disk drive, otherwise it wont check there before booting your system.
When you buy a computer you should have a disk that allows you to install the operating system onto the computer. This is important as there will be times when you will need to reinstall that operating system. Have disk no problem, no disk big problem
Before you answer this, my computer's a Compaq. It's a laptop and has been used for many years until when we got a new laptop and left an important disk forgotten inside the dead laptop. It won't turn on, just like dead laptop. I'm very concerned about how to get it out. How can I get it out without damaging my laptop? I know about paper pin thing but, I don't think it is useful? Thanks.
The operating system is Ubuntu Linux. It has a 4 GB Solid State hard disk Drive.
