CA18DET has a timing belt SR20DET has a timing chain 1993 UK car (S13) will be a CA18 DET
The V6 has a timing belt, the 4 cylinder has a timing chain. The LS 200 is SUPPOSED to have a 6 cylinder engine, so it would have a timing belt which should be replaced every 100,000 miles.
Yes. model SUV Tuscon has a belt not a chain and needs to be replaced to prevent costly engine damage.
Both engines (US Models) use timing chains. Upper and lower chains in the GA16DE (1.6 liter engine) and a single chain the the SR20DE (2.0 liter engine).
your vehicle does not have a t-belt-uses timing chain and gears which doesnt need to be replaced until around 150-200 thousand miles or incase of premature failure
dude if you have a 4.3 v 6 you are good for a long time. 4.3 engines have a chain not a belt, so with proper oil changes you got 150 to 200 thousand on a chain
I'm looking for the same answer myself for my 1997 Altima I swore I have been told that it is a chain. But I'm looking for a definite answer. Try this website for more info on the chain or belt http://www.nisspartswholesale.com/200-SXS-001_1996_parts.htmlTo answer both of your questions Nissan Altima 1993 and up have timing chains and if you have looked for them you're not going to find it unless you take the valve cover off and you will see it on the left side but be thankful for one thing that Nissan guarantees that the timing chain will last the life of the engine which is about 250,000 miles.Update:Just a confirmation, all the Nissan Altimas with either 4 cylinder or V6 engines had timing chains, not belts. This applies to the KA24DE, VQ35DE, and QR25DE engines. : If the Engine has plastic covers where the serpentine belt is running it's usually a Timing Belt. If it is a metal cover you have a Timing Chain
If your vehicle is at least 60,000 miles it is recommended you replace the timing chain. If your timing chain broke, your engine would NOT run because the timing chain is what rotates your engines camshafts to open and close the valves. Also, you would have some serious engine damage if you were driving and your engine suddenly just quit and it happened to be your timing chain. There really is no way to "check" a timing chain as it's hidden behind the belt area of the engine (if I'm not mistaken). If you're going to go through the labor of "checking" a timing chain, you might as well replace it, as the average timing chain job costs about $220, $200 of that being the labor.
150,000km
The Timing belt has let go and it just needs a timing belt kit $200 - $305 au.
about $200
depends on size of car but avarage is about £200-400
