no it doesnt have a monthly fee, you only pay once. some of the updates might not be free but you dont have to install them if you dont want to. i havent seen any updates that arent free though.

My son has an iPod Touch and there is no monthly service fee. Only the iPhone has a monthly fee because it is a phone though if you have it n prepaid, you can pay as much as you want. The iPod Touch is just a mp3 player and a handheld game console, you dont need to subscribe to anything.
