A priest can be sent for at any point when a person is believed to be in danger of death. The person may not die and this would be a blessing but if you believe or have been told that a person is in danger of dying ask for a priest. Hospitals and ICU wards have the numbers of priests or other holy people whatever your religion. They are very happy to call whom ever you may require to support you so dont be afraid to ask
