Loose, damaged, or failing shock absorber/strut?
Bad strut or strut mount? Check for loose undercarriage components
If the noise keeps going as you turn it's PROBABLY CV joints. If it's just one "pop", then it's probably a worn or loose suspension component. I'd suspect the strut.

Worn or loose strut bearing (holder)

If it is a loud screeching noise it is because they are loose and need to be tightened up, and or they are old and worn out
Strut, ball joints, roll-bar coupling, wheel bearing
Cowboy boots do not make noise when you are walking on loose sandy soil, which is what they are designed for. Walking on a hard surface they will always make noise, nothing can be done about this.
