The US Navy and Air Force had experimental jump jets in the 50's and 60's, but they never adopted them for service. To the best of this contributor's knowledge, the US Marines still use the McDonnell-Douglas Harrier (which is a US-built copy of the British Hawker-Siddeley Harrier; the first successful jump jet in the world). It flies very well but is dangerous to take off and land. With their many miles of runway and the largest aircraft carriers in the world, the Air Force and Navy probably decided that the increased danger was not justified by the VTOL benefit. For the Marines, operating from helicopter pads on ships and near the battlefield, the danger is more justified.
Yes, the US Marine Corps still has some improved versions in use.
Really?! Use your brain and a good helping of common sense.
Commercial jets do. Military jets normally land on military airports/airfields. An example for such an airport is Edwards Air Force Base.
Learjet was founded in the late 1950s by William Powell Lear. The company is an American manufacturer of business jets for both civilian and military use.
The Leer Jet is an American plane meant for the use of business, civilian transportation and military. One company in particular manufacturers Leer Jets which is known as Bombardier.
Yes, you can buy fighter jets for personal use, most likely fighters jets that are no longer in use or are not brand new, it will cost a lot of money, and any model or specification you buy will not have any secret military equipment or weapons on board.
I believe the United States uses the most aircraft for both civilian and mostly military use.
Jets will always use some form of kerosene
Aviation fuel, similar to kerosene. Only smaller aircraft with piston engines use a fuel similar to gasoline, called AVGas (Aviation gasoline) Military Jets use fuels specially designed for Jet Propulsion, these formula are known by JP-#, Commercial Jets use Jet-A.
The military and the boy scouts still use buglers.
The FA/18 super hornet, MIG-29, Sukhoi, Tejas and many more
I can see a squadron of jets in the sky today.
