About 30(?) years later, there is a "new" Joker in Gotham, which is actually Tim Drake who had a microchip in the back of his neck which caused him to turn back and forth between himself and the Joker. After Batman figured this out, he shorted out the microchip, changing Tim Drake back to normal, and defeating the Joker.
