Yes, typing does help you memorize the things you're typing, unless you're copy-typing at high speed. In that case, you rarely recall what you've typed.

But keyboarding at moderate speed helps you memorize. When I had something I needed to learn I frequently just sat the book or papers on my desk and typed them; there are three good results from this: you speed up your keyboarding, you memorize the work, and you have an electronic copy you can use later.

When you type the two-finger way it takes so much of your energy and attention just to get the correct words down that you don't recall much of what you write. Just another of the many reasons to take the short time you need to learn to touch-type.
