Whatever works for you. What determines whether an exercise is effective at helping you lose weight is how many calories you burn doing it. While running burns more calories per hour than walking, you can walk for a much greater period without becoming exhausted. So figure out which activity allows you to burn the most calories in an exercise session and go with that. Your own personal comfort and enjoyment also play a factor: if you don't like an intense bout of running, you probably won't be exercising as much and therefore not burning as many calories per week than if you chose walking.

In my experience, it's not whether you run or walk that makes the difference. You get the same result over the same distance. You can run a mile or walk a mile. The basic differences are that with running you get it done quicker but are more prone to injury. Aerobically, the running will build your stamina more but you can still get a good workout from a fast-paced walk.

Depends on the weight of the person in question, if you weigh more than 200 pounds running is not good for your knees, they cannot handle the impact so it is better to bring your weight down by other means , but for people weighing less than that, running reduces weight faster and helps keep one fit.

If you only eat the same amount of food that you normally do, and increase the amount of exercise that you do (walking, jogging, cycling, or whatever), then yes, it helps you to lose weight.

Yes, walking is just as good an exercise as running, for the purpose of weight loss. Of course, you would have to walk farther than the distance that you would have to run, to burn a comparable number of calories.
