It Could be. If the smoke stops after the car runs for a bit, then it is only condensation that has built up in the engine or more likely, the exhaust system. If it is a continual stream of fairly heavy white smoke, then you most likely have a bad head gasket,,,,but the car should not be running very well either in most cases.
