Because very few Universities offer degrees in Helicopter piloting, Infantry tactics and canon cocking, most University Degrees have little relevance to the immediate needs of the Corps. What they do provide is written proof that the individual was capable of learning the subject matter to attain a degree in the first place. That ability gives them confidence that with the six months of The Basic School and many more months of specialized training they can turn the individual into the officer they need. If there is something in your college education that is in high demand, they will take advantage of it.
