Normally a company will pay for gas when traveling in a company car. However, they may also just pay hourly instead of providing gas money.
No
Your employer is not required to do so unless you have an agreement with them do pay. You do have certain rights to deduct this mileage from your taxes if you meet certain requirements.
An employer can pay any amount they want for gas mileage. The federal government allows an employee to claim a deduction for the business mileage if the employer does not reimburse the employee for the expense.
Not all employers do.
Only if the travel is ordered by the employer during working hours AND the extra travel time puts the employee over 40 hours for the workweek. Travel during non-work hours is unpaid.
Very few employers are required to pay you mileage at all, so the fact that you calculate mileage at all is a bonus. That being said, the employer has a perfect right to determine the amount of miles and the rate at which they pay you.
Only if the travel is part of the job, such as delivering packages or traveling between multiple work locations. But the employer does not pay for the time it takes you to get to work from your home.
