No. Pluto (when it was a planet) was frozen. Neptune is also very cold. Result of no light/warmth.

What planets produce their own light?

No, planets don't give off light, stars did.

What planets are in the solar system names and picture for kids?

Names I can give, pictures are harder to post on this site, but you can easily find them by way of google. The solar system is currently thought to have eight planets which are, in order of increasing distance from the sun,MercuryVenusEarthMarsJupiterSaturnUranusNeptune. Pluto used to be included as a ninth planet but it is now classified as a dwarf planet instead. There are also several other dwarf planets, all of which are farther from the sun than Neptune.

Does the moon earth planets or sun give off their own light?

Yes, it does and it reflects light onto other planets making stars.

How many suns does Andromeda galaxy have?

The word "sun" is a unique name we give to the star in our solar system. But the word can be applied to any star that has planets orbiting it. However, it's really impossible to tell. We don't know exactly how many stars are in our own galaxy, let alone another galaxy. Did you know that hundreds of planets have been discovered outside of our solar system? ~Apple Juice

How large is the Cat's Eye Nebula in light-years?

That depends what you include in the "Solar System". The Oort Cloud - a group of comets - is believed to be at a distance of about 1 light-year from the Sun; that would give a diameter of about 2 light-years. If you only include the 8 major planets, the size of the Solar System is only a fraction of a light-year. (A light-year is the distance light travels in a year; light gets from the Sun to the farthest planet in just a few hours.)

Is universe and solar system the same?

Does give off light in the solar system apart from the sun?

No. The moon is a reflection of the sun's light

Why is the solar system useful?

so we know where the planets, moons, asteroids meteorites, comets, and other objects are situated. This will give a direction and information about traveling in our solar system and the time it takes to travel there.

Why are planets in the solar system visible from earth even though they don't give out light?

Nearby planets like Mercury, Venus, Mars can be seen form earth through naked eye. But their visibility is low and are seen only during special occasions.

What year were planets formed?

1662 If that's a joke, I don't get it. The planets in our solar system were formed about 4.5 billion years ago. I can't give you the exact year!

What planets produce their own light?

Which is bigger the solar system or the milky way?

Considering the Solar System is part of the Milky Way Galaxy, that might give you a clue. The Solar System is about 4 light years in diameter, depending on how you measure it. The Milky Way is 100,000 light years in diameter.

Which among the planets in your solar system is the oldest?

In all probability, all the planets are about the same age. They formed around the same time as all of the other planets give or take a few million years.

Why do the planets stay in orbit and not spin into outer space?

The force keeping planets in orbit is gravity from another, larger planet or mass. The larger the planet, the greater the gravitational force it will have. To give an example, the sun in our solar system keeps earth and all the other planets in our solar system in orbit because it has the greatest mass, meaning it also has the greatest gravitational force.

Do planets give us light?

No

What is the name for the Sun and its family of planets?

The sun and its family of planets has a description, not a name. It is "the solar system." The word "solar" means "pertaining to the sun." Thus "the solar system" is the system of objects and gases that pertain to the sun. The word "Sol," Latin for "the sun," is sometimes used as the name of our sun in fiction, but until we actually have populations resident in other solar systems, there is no need to give ours a name. It is "the" solar system, the way the navy of the United Kingdom is simply "The" Royal Navy. Only the others need names, to distinguish them from "the" original.

What planet does not gives off its own light?

Planets dont give off light therefore all planets dont give off its own light
