dolly was the first clone to be produced from an adult cell
This is a false statement. Dolly was the name of the first animal cloned, however, she was a domestic sheep and not a cow. She was cloned on July 5 1996.
The first cloned placental mammal was Dolly the Sheep. She was named after the ample chested singer dolly parton because the DNA for her egg was taken from a mammary cell of the cloned animal.
The chromosome makeup of Dolly is identical to that of sheep A
The first animal cloned was a lamb by the name of Dolly.
She mothered six lambs in total:Bonnie (1998)Sally and Rosie (1999)Lucy, Dary and Cotton (2000)
Genetic cloning of animals; Dolly the sheep was produced as an exact replica of her mother through taking the mother nucleus of her egg, implanting it into another sheeps egg with no nucleus and then that fertilised egg being placed in a surrogate mother sheep.
YES
Dolly was a cloned sheep, and the first mammal to be successfully cloned. She was created at the Roslin Institute in Scotland. The cell from which she was cloned was taken from a six year old ewe. Dolly was born on 5 July 1996, but scientists did not announce her birth until February 22 the following year. The cloning technique used in the creation of Dolly was somatic cell nuclear transfer, in which the nucleus from one of the donor's non-reproductive cells is placed into a de-nucleated embryonic cell and coaxed into developing into a foetus.
Dolly the sheep was put down in 2003 at the age of six due to a viral infection which resulted in a lung tumor. Prior to her death, she developed arthritis, possibly as a result of the cloning procedure that created her. It is unknown whether or not she also developed other complications from being cloned that led to her premature death as the autopsy results did not reveal much useful information. She also got lung disease which was progressive.
The adult/adult photographs show the remarkable similarities, of the clone to the original, better than the adult/lamb comparison would.
Dolly the sheep did not die from a sickness. She was staying at a farm and had been bred to a normal ram to test her fertility. She had one lamb that she raised on her own, but in the fall when the farm was sending sheep to slaughter, she and her lamb somehow ended up on the trailer What?? Do not believe anyone on these websites. None of the above is true. Dolly the sheep was euthanised on Feb 14th,2003 from a progressive lung disease, aged 6. The disease is common is sheep and wasnt a result from cloning.
Jesus of Bethlem (Christ) is the Lamb/son of God. The "lamb of God" is Jesus Christ. He is considered the lamb because he was slain as a sacrifice for our sins.
