You can only download trial versions of those applications which only work for a short period of time. You can do this through the Microsoft Office website. What you could do is get another application suite that is free, like Open Office. It has applications equivalent to Word, Excel and Powerpoint. There is a Microsoft Office for the Mac, which includes the regulars such as word, excel, PowerPoint, etc. , but it cost around 130 dollars (not free).
