The economic warning signs that appeared during the Hoover administration were that the standard of living of Americans was on the decline and product costs were getting low. Also, due to high tariffs, there wasn't much international trade taking place.

There were several major causes of the Great Depression in the United States.

1. Unequal distribution of wealth. There was not a large middle class. While wages were rising for the majority of workers, they were not keeping pace with the increase in the cost of living or the wealth in the hands of the industrialists and others in the upper income classes.

2. There was over speculation in the Stock Market, which was not regulated.

Many Americans purchased stock on credit. This was known as margin buying.

3. Increased manufacturing and agricultural output, but wages that did not keep pace for the consumers to purchase all that was produced or grown. Hence, inventories increased and agricultural income remained low.

4. Buying on credit, known in the 1920s as installment buying. People purchased things like refrigerators on time, and did not have money to pay for the product in the future, when the bills became due.

5. Federal regulations on businesses also contributed to the cause. Especially favorable to the large corporations were the taxes laws which were written

to encourage business expansion.

6. Banks were permitted to speculate in land and the stock market with little

government regulations.

7. High tariffs and war debts helped spread the depression world wide.

8. The Stock Market Crash of 1929 signaled the beginning of the Great Depression.

The first signal of the crisis appeared in 1928 in agricultural sector. There were several causes. One of them was out of control of the man, the Dust Bowl that started decimating crops in 1930 onward in the large are of USA and second was a change of international market with agricultural commodities in postwar era. For example, Germany and Austrian Monarchy were the world largest producer of the refine sugar and traded it with USA to obtain grain. The war destroyed relational exchange, and some agricultural product became rather local commodity instead of international. This led to the decline of the numerous large farm holdings in both sides of Atlantic and bankruptcies of the food processing cartels, especially in Europe where sugar, pigs, dairy were traded extensively with USA for corn and grain. The inability of USA to produce sufficient own sugar was also evident in WWII when sugar became rationed by USA government. Additional problem were tariffs as each European country attempt to prompt its own still large farming sector, which led to decline of the international trade with food products.

During the Hoover administration several economic warning signs appeared Can you name them?

'm assuming you mean economic warning signs for The Great Depression. Hoover rejected the Coolidge-Mellon imperative to keep federal government out of active participation in the economy (Coolidge-Mellon imperative wanted direct involvement from the federal government in economics, their interference wouldn't have been a good thing). He stressed that businesses and labor unions should work to keep the economy functioning, but the continuing deterioration of conditions forced change (those conditions were, mass firings of personnel and businesses closing down, business didn't have money to even maintain all of their workers, forget about supporting entire industries). At the end of his administration, the people were tired of the horrendous work conditions, increasingly high unemployment rates and the country was a standstill from the bank crisis. Here are some economic warning signs: Wall Street Crash of October 1929: The bull market of the 1920s slumped sharply in October, touching off at a long slow decline that wiped out billions of dollars in paper profits. Hawley- Smoot Tariff June 1930: Hoover ignored the protests of more than 1,000 economists and signed the highest protective tariff measure in U.S. history. Widespread reciprocation followed as other nations demonstrated their displeasure. The Bank Crisis February 1933: Steadily deteriorating public confidence in the nation's banks reached crisis proportions shortly before Hoover left office. States attempted to slow runs on the by declaring "holidays" to provide breathing room for the threatened institutions.
