Yes. When the chain breaks it will bend valves. I had 4 bent exhaust.
the 2.4 4 cylinder is the only engine Honda makes that is chain driven. any thing else is belt driven.
The Primary is chain driven
It has a timing chain. The chain is inside the motor, and runs across both cams and down to the crank shaft, which is located on the left hand side of the engine block.
You don't. The cam on the 4 cylinder engine is driven by a chain. The V6 is driven by a belt. No maintenance is required on the 2003 4 cylinder engine.
The quad 4 is the predecessor to the GM Ecotec which replaced it and is GM's global 4-cylinder and is used in all GM lines, Saturn, Opel,Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Daewoo.
1994 Rav 4 engine code 3S-FE Is belt driven.
Chain. Both the 2.4L and the 2.7L inline 4 cylinder engines cam are driven by a chain. Only the V6 engine uses a belt.
Never as of today (Jan 2013) SOME "Earth Dreams" engines are timing cain driven. That "new" 3.5L engine is slated to be delivered with the Pilot starting with the redesign due for 2014 models. However per Honda's press release here. They only reference the 4 cylinder getting chain driven cams and balance shafts so I suspect the 2014 Pilot will still have that silly belt. 90K mile maintenance item, expect the bill for the 90K service at your dealer to be between 1,000 and 1,600.
2 cams per cylinder head ( so 4 in total for the DOHC engine )
cams are used to lift and close the valves to create compression and exhaust . its also called 4 stroke
The engine has 4 cams.
